Lodged

After a wonderful day of wildlife watching on Saturday, Sunday was more chilled and we rested most of the day, as well as going on a gentle amble. We’ve been staying at a lodge in one of the many private wildlife areas that adjoins Kruger. Impala, warthogs, vervet monkeys, ostriches and various of their pals run loose around this area. Across the fence the impressive wildlife of Kruger can be seen. Two hippos frolicked on the river bank in view for much of the day as we waited for our pick-up, which came 2.5 hours late. On balance it’s better to be chilling at a lodge overlooking Kruger than in an apartment in Maputo.

It was nightfall when we reached Maputo, but Kruger exceeded my expectations and I’ll certainly be returning.
