Amongst the herbs

What a lovely day we have had. Knottman2 and Mrs K arrived at our house in time for coffee and lots of chat. Then we took them on a little trip through the Eden Valley, visiting first Acorn Bank. A very nice lunch outside was followed by a walk through the gardens. Here are the two of them in the impressive walled herb garden for which Acorn Bank is famous. From the orchards, with the many varieties of apples and other fruit, we walked through the woods. With these experts as company, I learnt more about wild flowers in an hour than I have ever known - fascinating. And just to show I have remembered something, in extras is Butterbur, so named because the leaves grow so large that they were once used to wrap butter. Forget all that! The extra is Toothwort - good for teeth apparently - I should have remembered that as I’m to the dentist tomorrow with a broken tooth.

We went on to Larch Cottage Nurseries for a wander among the plants and statues and tea/coffee and cake. A few plants were purchased.

Back at our house they set off for home. A fine day in excellent company. All thanks to Blip.
