Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

No workmen!

There were no workmen in the house today, and it was lovely! Though painters are coming tomorrow to do the hall. Well, painter, singular. They rang to say someone was sick, so it will be two days' work.

I dropped JR and Archie up the hill and went on to B&Q for our solution to the coal cupboard - lay self adhesive lino tiles. No need to scrub the walls and floor! (Which would be impossible in a low cupboard). We've used the tiles before - I did the kitchen in the last flat - and they're easy to cut to size. I also picked up Archie's three-monthly pills. Now to hide them in his food...

Uncle A came round in the afternoon to inspect the renovations, which, as we still have a broken toilet seat, are technically Not Finished. He was the bearer of a variety of gifts, including Scottish strawberries and two little apple crumbles. Yum yum.

A sunny morning, though rain in the afternoon. The garden needs it. Here's Archie in a favourite spot hoping I’ll invite him to sit outside in the sun. We did.

Bailey's mum, our dear friend Janet, died this morning. She's been ill for some time. We will miss her terribly. Bailey had gone to live with one of her walkers several weeks ago.
