Wells Cathedral Library

Oh what a fabulous day! Spent around 5 hours in total mooching in and around Wells Cathedral taking hundreds of photos and then a guided tour around the Cathedral Library ( busman holiday) :-). Here you can see one of the many volumes that have been chained to the shelf. Apparently it’s not a modern phenomenon that people fail to return library books, the 16&17th Century answer was to chain the most popular volumes to the shelves :).
The books themselves were amazing and such wonderful variety from Thomas Cranmer copy of St.John of Demarcus to Vesalius’s De Humani Corporis Fabrica.
And to top off a perfect day dinner with a friend and her two delightful daughters:-)
