Knot #49

Arrived at Leighton Moss this morning at around 10:30am on our way up to Braithwaite. It wasn't looking promising as it had been trying to rain all the way up. 
We started at the Allen/Morecambe hides to watch the avocets and godwits for a while and look for "new" birds for this years list. 
As well as a load of redshanks, we saw Knot for the first time this year and managed to weedle out a couple of bar tailed godwits amongst the black tails. 
The light was awful and as soon as we had arrived at the far hide it started raining. We hung around to see if it would stop, but unfortunately not, so we made our way back to the car and got quite wet in the process. 
After a quick lunch at the café, we made our way up through the Lakes to Braithwaite and are now happily settled in room #2 at the Ivy House - part of the HPB site. 
This evening we will eat in the hotel and then decide on what our plan could be to avoid storm Hannah tomorrow!
