Stuff and Nonsense

Barnacle Geese #50

A much drier day than expected and even some sunshine. We headed north to try and escape Storm Hannah and seemed to manage very well. RSPB Campfield Marsh was our first stop and we had a lovely walk around the area for a couple of hours, only getting a few spots of rain the whole time. Birds were in short supply as this is mainly a winter reserve and most of the ducks and geese have now left, but we did see a skein of geese flying overhead and I was pleased to be able to add Barnacle goose to my growing list of birds seen this year :)

We returned back to Braithwaite via Cockermouth where we got lunch and the Whinlatter pass which gave a lovely view over Bassenthwaite (see extras).

All in all a very good day.
