“Old Tiles” Barming, Kent

“Old Tiles” is a beautiful 16th century or earlier building which, according to the Internet, was possibly had a non-domestic function before becoming a house. It’s looking pretty good for its age.

We were out this way as we had to take Doreen to her clinic this morning, a volunteer driver not being available. We fitted in a walk down to and along the Medway in the hour and a half she was at the clinic instead of going to the gym as is our usual Friday morning activity.

We did get to the allotment this afternoon, managing 3 hours each clearing the last of the brassicas away and doing battle with the ubiquitous mares tails which are growing vigorously as they do at this time of the year.

We desperately need some rain. Far too dry for this time of the year and we missed any of the rain that fell in the rest of the country over the past few days. It doesn’t look like Storm Hannah will be bringing much rain either.
