Urchin

No, not the type of urchin/rapscallion that appears in Victoria novels like A Christmas carol - an actual sea urchin. I'm working from home and nipped out to the garden during my lunch break to photograph our barbecue. It has been lying open, full of rainwater, for the past three or four months. During that time a wonderful layer of vibrant rust has accumulated underwater in the tray. Difficult to photograph it - to get a good angle on it. As I crouched I spotted the urchin and photographed that as well.

It's freezing cold outside and this shell reminded me of the sunny day at Gosford Point when we found it among the rocks.
