The Wheeled One

Today was the day.

I took the electric scooter to work with the plan of avoiding the irritating wait for The-Bus-That's-Always-Late on the way home.

And to be honest, it was a success.  Ok the Bus-That's-Always-Late ran on time, but we got to the Hauptbahnhof at the same time (after setting off at the same time). And then it was off up roads unknown trying to find the quickest and quietest way home.  And after 50 minutes I was home.  That's five minutes slower than the bus (when everything runs perfectly).  But it was 50 minutes of NOT being-in-the-bus-and-hating-it.

I was paying attention though the whole way home.  Watching for cars and bikes and people who are just tired of life, sorry, people who live only through their phone.

The scooter is fine on the flat and races downhill.  The evenness of the ground also plays a big part.  Smooth tarmac is lovely.  Monobloc is juddery. And cobbles loosen your teeth.  Uphill and it struggles.  You have to give it a helping push every 3 metres or so.  Or you do when you're as heavy as me.

Nonetheless I enjoyed every minute.  Even the bit when it rained for 5 minutes.  This will be a way to get home until it gets too hot.
