Honor to the Fallen, in Springtime

My travels on this day took me to Boalsburg, and I stopped for just a few minutes to say hello to the ladies. Boalsburg claims to be the birthplace of Memorial Day, and this is a statue of the three ladies who celebrated the first Memorial Day. The name of it is Honor to the Fallen.

All of the trees are in bloom now, and it is marvelous everywhere. (Yes, I mean EVERYwhere!) The road was lined with pink trees and you can see several of them in this shot. It was not raining but I liked the way the tree seemed like an umbrella for the ladies; a pink shelter in which to honor the fallen.

The soundtrack: the Rolling Stones, with an old favorite, Gimme Shelter.
