Solace Day 6 - "Wait for me, Mum!"

A bright and chilly start. Last night we'd remembered to put out the trail cam. Remembering the fun we had seeing badgers in Sheffield, we were interested in what might be passing on the other side of the canal. Great news! An otter, then a fox. Both are in Extras. The otter is in the centre of the image. Hardly discernible on the still but on the video its movement helped in the identification.

There were convenient shops at Atherstone so I got out while the men worked up the flight of locks. After lunch it was a lock-free day and we turned onto the Ashby Canal. Very quiet! Well, except for the mutterings over technology. The Mate's mobile phone died and the Man couldn't get a top-up on his!

You might think how daft to be bothered about this sort of thing during a holiday but for self-employed people whose work depends on enquiries coming by email or phone, it IS a problem.

There are a lot of tiny ducklings about on the canal at the moment but I've not managed good shots so this wee Moorhen chick has to do for today!
