Bird park

A regular fixture of our trips here is a visit to the bird park, and as this was forecast to be the dullest day, today was the day.

A very successful trip with a whole heap of nesting storks, flamingos, huge flocks of swallows, black-winged stilts, black ibis, egrets, swans, the usual coots and ducks, lots of nightingales and warblers and (drumroll) a bittern. There were also coypu and (according to CarbBoy) a huge white deer he didn’t bother to mention at the time.

We were back in the village just in time for a late lunch at the usual place where we over-ordered even more spectacularly than normal. The rain kept us trapped there for long enough that lunch segued into an early tea (they slung TallGirl’s burger back on the grill to warm it up). The sparrows did well out of it too.

Home for a mix of snoozing, work, reading and now we are learning about ‘new’ music from our youthful companions. I think they may be irritated by our constant references to whatever band of the 80s it sounds like.

We have made a tactical decision to eschew dinner.
