Oliver Cromwell

Oliver Cromwell lived in St Ives for 5 years before he became famous. Although he was born in Huntington, 300 years after his birth Huntington was still such a Royalist town that they didn't want his statue, so it went to St Ives instead. His name wasn't really Cromwell but Williams. He was Welsh and related to Henry VIII's minister Thomas Cromwell so changed his name to benefit from the family connection.
We had a wander in St Ives this morning before heading over to Somersham to our friends home, and this evening we were at The Windmill in Somersham to celebrate Margaret's birthday, have to say, the meal was fabulous!
Have a great weekend everyone xxx
