Salida....

We stayed the night in Salida, Colorado, and spent part of this morning exploring the city. The Arkansas River runs through the town, and there's a slalom course set up on it for canoe and kayak, which is why there are poles hanging down over the water. It was beautiful looking out over the river with the mountains off in the distance. We came across two deer standing in the middle of the road, which is why the deer portrait is in the collage, and the rest of the pictures are just things that caught my eye as we strolled along. From Salida we drove through Monarch Pass (still had lots and lots of snow on the trees and the sides of the road), stopping at Blue Mesa Lake in the Gunnison Recreation Area--spectacular views no matter where you looked! Then on to Black Canyon National Park, and finally to Montrose, where we'll spend the night. Perfect weather today--bright, sunny and a bit crisp! :))
