Farewell To The Football League

Yeovil players applaud the fans after the final game of the season this afternoon, a 0-0 draw at home to Carlisle. It was an a strangely subdued game, given that Carlisle still had a chance of getting in the play-offs and Yeovil should have been wanting to go out on a high: Carlisle had most of the possession and played the ball around nicely without really producing any dangerous shots, while Yeovil seemed happy just to see the season out until the last 20 minutes when we suddenly started to play with real pace and passion. We could have scored 3 goals but for some good saves by the Carlisle keeper.

Anyway, at least we said goodbye to the League after 16 years on a bit of a high, even if there's still some uncertainty over the future with the takeover not confirmed yet. Hopefully some news on that front next week and we can begin to build a team that can be successful in the National League. Oh, for the optimism after the first game of the season!

We had a hectic morning, cycling down to do the park run (we both improved on our personal best times) then straight up to the outdoor pool in time for the opening of a new season and a few lengths to warm down.
