Jami of the Potawatomi tribe

Alohaland never ceases to surprise us. Our friend Jami is part Native American and today she treated us to a full immersion in Potawatomi culture. She brought her clothes, trinkets, fancy shawl (as she called it), decorations and music, and recounted lots of interesting facts and history about her tribe, which originated in the Great Lakes area and travelled down to Oklahoma along the Trail of Death, as she taught us how to prepare various Native American dishes. We even made a salsa with cactus! A fabulous event!
