Awaiting the right of way

Back on the railway with another learning turn in the Tenterden Town signalbox. Heavy, but welcome rain this morning made it a bit miserable when out of the box.

Pilotman training, for trainee signalmen, took place in the worst of the rain. This is the procedure used to run trains along a single when there is a failure of the block system between two signalboxes where a human acts as the token giving the driver permission to enter the single line section

Pilotman working doesn’t happen very often so it was good practice for everyone to experience the procedure again.

The weather improved over the afternoon and we ended the day in sunshine and on time. It was a rush to get back home, have tea and get out for the Uke jam session tonight.

Today’s blip is of the driver of No 25 awaiting right of way with the 1.15pm departure from Tenterden to Bodiam.
