New Jersey .....

... road trip!

We are always looking for new and different places to go for wildlife photography and today we traveled into New Jersey to Woodland Park to check out Garret Mountain Reservation.  Richard had read that this is a great place to see lots of migrating birds.

The weather was so-so and we almost didn't go because of the forecast, which was calling for rain.  We did encounter some rain driving there but it stopped by the time we arrived just before noon.  We ate a quick lunch in the car .... peanut butter and honey sandwiches ... then headed out on the trails.  By the time we were done and ready to head home the sun was shining and it was quite warm!

One of the first birds we saw was a Common Yellowthroat Warbler .... center bottom picture. There were so many other birds that I couldn't recognize but the other birders there pointed out to us.  We wish Debbi was there with us as she would be able to tell us what they all were!! Also featured in my collage are a Scarlet Tanager (bottom left) and a Black-and-white Warbler (top left) and too many chipmunks to count!  They were everywhere!!!

I simply had to include a picture of the street sign of the exit we took!  Squirrelwood Road!!  Who wouldn't want to live there?!?

We had a lovely, lovely day!
