The Library from my Library

We always think of libraries as places where words are stored not spoken. We forget that ideas, dreams, triumphs and maelstroms spill silently into the souls of the readers without so much as a syllable rattling in the atmosphere. Yes, I've been to a poetry reading. In a library. It's infectious. I love silence, but sometimes it's honoured in the breaking. Plus I'd love the desk but of my job to be here in the Historical Reading room at John Rylands. Although silence would then be mandatory!
