Glen Fiodhaig

Today - Maoile Lunndaidh - 1007m

Starting with a long cycle ride 10km up the forestry trail against the chill east wind into the high Glen Fiodaig, we hiked up the remote and furthest Munro of the group. Fortunately the wind was no worse on the high ridge top, although visibility was down to about 50m across the snow-covered broken ground. We navigated the last km on a rough bearing over the steep ground and without the gps we could have quite easily walked right past the summit cairn without seeing it. The gently rounded top is quite flat, so determining where the summit is, is not quite as straight-forward as it appears on the map.

On the way down, it snowed heavily. It created a mesmerising 'reverse warp factor' effect as it blew from behind us, overlaying the view ahead. See extras - the phone doesn't show this particularly well. Plus the old ruined croft at Choire Beithe in the glen bottom.
