SILLY WEATHER

It was a rainy day for the re-opening of the harbour in our town.
A pretty program. For instance there was a Dinner in White planned from 2 pm till 23 pm. White tables and white benches and chairs. Dress code: white. You could bring your own food, or buy a meal at different places.
You can see that no one at least while we were there sat down at the tables. Nor Piet Hein nor I have white clothes here in Germany. I only saw one or two persons in white, and it seems to me a nice idea, but only on a warm and sunny day.
Then there were speeches of several persons, like the mayor, and the Minister of State of Hesse Eva Kuehne- Hoermann.
A shanty choir, a children's choir, a Brass Band too, the Liedertafel, and more.
The first ships entered the harbour through the lock. An exhibition, opened at 5 pm. but then we were a bit cold and tired and walked home.
At 6 pm the Swing and Jazz des Solling Swing Orchestre. Although we can hear the music here up the hill, it is of course totally different to hear it standing at the harbour.
From 9 pm till 11 pm the harbour will be illuminated by 1000 candles.
The rain has stopped now, otherwise the rain would drown the candlelights.

Two extra photos of the afternoon. A man standing on the steps of the monument to have a better look, and a sight of the public all with umbrellas up.
