Bíblia

Vitória the taxi driver never has her bible far away from the backseat. I had to use her services often today as I collected a donor from the airport, with whom I’m travelling to the field tomorrow. We later went out for dinner at his behest to treat me to some good Mozambican fare. He was last in Maputo during the 1970s, so needless to say the city has changed beyond all recognition.

In between all this I satisfied field preparations and requests from the project site in the north (where things are even scarcer now thanks to the cyclones) by buying single malt whisky, batteries, cream cheese, thyme and insect repellent.
