Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae)

As I crossed the railway bridge coming back home yesterday I saw what I thought was a brooch  -  it turned out to be a very flattened moth.  I liked its colour so I picked it up and took it home with me.  Poor thing  -  how it came to be dead on a tarmacced bridge is a mystery, because they normally inhabit very grassy ground.  Since one of the wings is not too damaged and shows its pattern clearly I thought it deserved a blip. I put it on my light pad and auto macro to photograph it.
