Bad hair day!

Actually this image is not of hair but of Hector's tail feathers. Hector is my bantam Maran cockerel and can be a bit of a dandy at times as he struts around the garden. His tail feathers always appear to hang awkwardly from his rump but it doesn't seem to bother him. He has far greater things to fuss about.....his girls! I have 4 hens who are a match for Hector due to his comparative short stature. Normally a cockerel will dominate his hens being so much bigger but as he is a bantam he is the same size.  He has his favourite , a young white hen called Blondie. She , poor soul, got so much attention at the end of last summer she lost all the feathers on her back. Yes Hector can be a bit rough at times! For a few months Blondie wore a chicken saddle, there are such items of clothing for the discerning young hen. She loved it and eventually all her feathers grew back in. Unfortunately she is not laying very well yet, every so often a wee fart egg is laid and yes that is what these tiny test eggs are called!

It's me who is having a few bad hair days, I have shingles at the moment and although the anti viral meds are kicking in I still feel very tired and can experience some sharp pains where the rash is. Hopefully all will be well soon.
