Pearl-bordered

Took myself off to the Wyre Forest which is a hotspot for Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterflies.

One of the fastest declining butterflies in the UK but thriving in coppiced woodland where they live on the wild flowers such as Bugle and Common Dog-violet. They didn't disappoint today as the weather was perfect being warm, sunny and calm giving them a chance to flit around the edge of the rides in the open.

I just love their beautiful markings, golden orange colour with soft round wing shape and  I've walked miles to get to see them today!
