On Whixall Moss

It has been a beautiful day today and so unlike the return to winter that we've had for the last week.

We decided to go to Whixall Moss, a local raised lowland bog.  There's been a lot of work done to remove some of the silver birch trees that have been taking over. It will be much better for rejuvenating the bog in the long run but I gather that there have been complaints about it.

There were lots of brimstone butterflies around and a few damsel and dragonflies.  We were pleased to see five hobbies flying but they were too high and fast to photograph.
