Tal-y-llyn

An absolutely stunning reflection almost made us abandon our walking plans to just picnic by the lake and stare.... but the three of us eventually tore ourselves away to our planned walk. The rest of yesterday’s party were shattered after Cader Idris so opted for a ride on the steam railway. (TonyG’s favourite railway in fact - a pity he wasn’t here this week).

Rights of way up through the pine forest were disappointingly not where they should be but we found a way up to Rhiwogof and then enjoyed our lunch in a truly beautiful and isolated sunny valley carved by Nant Pencoed. We took a few minutes to appreciate the natural sounds unspoiled by humans.

From Pencoed we could see the glistening sea between the hills and agreed it would be a fab spot to camp and watch the sun set. Another day perhaps.

Starting to descend towards Llanfihangel-y-pennant also proved tricky as the farmer had closed the route (perhaps during lambing) and lower down, the forest track was overgrown, but we were undeterred; just a bit late finishing.

Challenges overcome, all in all a fab day.
