Waterman

Tangier Island, MD is losing it's self. Because of the world 'sea level rise' scenario this small Island in the Chesapeake Bay has been losing it's landmass. Since 1850 the island's landmass and been reduced by 67%. Tangier's population was 727 at the 2010 Census and has been steadily decreasing since. It is expected that within 50 years the town will no longer exist.
In this region of the U.S. people who make their livelihood from the Chesapeake Bay are called 'Watermen' not fishermen.
We spent a little over an hour traveling to Tangier by boat and enjoyed an amazing  meal served 'homestyle'. It was interesting hearing the island's inhabitants speak with each other in their own dialect of AmericanEnglish.
Another wonderful day! Tangier, Maryland
***11 days! Woof!
