Sheds

These are 'Sheds', exoskeletons 'shed' by Blue crabs. Blue Crabs molt their old shells to allow for growth. At this point they're called 'Soft-Shelled' crabs and are considered a delicacy by many, although not by myself. Watermen know 'tricks' to get the crabs to shed and not harden their shells.
They are then sold as fresh 'Soft-shelled' crabs or quick frozen and shipped long distances. Today we learned more about the Crabbing Industry, were given a seafood cooking demonstration (and lunched on the wonderful dishes prepared and tonight, after dinner, we will attend a presentation on the area's Seafood Industry, 'From Dock to Plate'.
***10 more days 'till Fletcher comes Home :)
