Common Enchantments

Mount Massive

A view of Mt Massive as we traveled back down toward Leadville from the site of the Matchless Mine   ( where I wanted to trespass but did not!)  What a story this mine has!    We learned all about the woman who was the last owner of the mine at the National Mining Museum.   You might Google Matchless Mine or Baby Doe Tabor to read a very interesting story!   The Mining Museum was a wonderful place to learn about all kinds of mining complete with a walk-thru mine that was dark and displayed what the mines underground were like.   A super place!

We were surrounded by snow and water today on the ride to Leadville.  It was so gorgeous!   I wanted to stop at every curve and pull over on the way but did not!

We had a good lunch at the Silver Dollar Saloon housed in a building built in the late 1800s.   Very atmospheric of the old west except our waiter was attired in steampunk costume with a cowboy theme.   Strange.

At Denver now and will meet up with Pipersmom in the morning for a visit to the Denver Botanical Garden!
