Christendom’s Limits

Off to Ag Efstratios which we spend a long time approaching as it’s a good 50 miles away. A bit of a dull slog under leaden skies with an occasional dolphin sighting to enliven proceedings.
Still, it brightened, as did we, when we got to their tiny town. Not the most scenic of places but with a real Greek charm to outsiders such as us. Only two tavernas, and we tried them both. The main occupations seem to be mending fishing nets, pouring concrete with EU money and garrisoning the lookout for Johnny Turk.
Apparently under the Colonels the island was used to house political dissidents including Theodorakis, the guy who did the music for Zorba the Greek. And in 1968 the whole place was flattened by a 7.1 earthquake. I’m like Richard Ayoade, me.
So goodbye Doris Day. No1 on the day I was born with Que Sera Sera. True enough, true enough.
