Diary of an Edinburgher

New shoes

A very warm day! JR was out early with Archie, giving him a big run around the Meadows as he was staying with Rufus and his mum in the afternoon. She declared it lovely and she'd do this every morning - NO school kids around!

Today was our dear friend Janet's funeral. An expected delivery arrived as we were about to leave, so that was good, and another arrived later in the afternoon. We also popped in to Waitrose for a 'Click and Collect' delivery.

The funeral was sad, of course. Her daughter spoke about what a wonderful mother she had been, dragging her children up mountains, and making them swim in cold seas. She had a wonderful life.

On the way home we picked up a frame for our Frida Kahlo poster for the bathroom. Rufus and his mum came for a G&T in the sunshine in the afternoon. It was HOT!

Barbecue was fired up, cooked and eaten before our neighbours had even got their charcoal burner going. But we did have a couple of humungous toasted marshmallows with them later on, as their BBQ will be hot for hours.

The new summer shoes arrived. Very comfy. Very white. And tennis will never be played in them...
