Pro Capture

This evening the Photographic Society had a presentation from Clare Harvey-May of Olympus.  She was demonstrating some of the features and capabilities of Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras.

It proved to be a very entertaining evening.  She talked about the technologies in the cameras and demonstrated that the relatively small sensor (compared with "full frame" cameras which most manufacturers now seem to be producing) can produce competitive quality - showing us some excellent A2 sized prints of her own photographs.

The smaller size and light weight of the cameras certainly aroused plenty of interest among club members - particularly those who are struggling under the weight of heavy DSLRs.  I wouldn't be surprised to find that Clare has generated a few sales this evening.

My blip shows her demonstrating (with the help of club members) the "Pro Capture" feature on the top of the range EM-1, which captures a sequence of full resolution RAW  images at 60 frames per second, and allows you to pick the one which captures the action at its best.  The demonstration was photographing something being dropped into a glass of water and capturing the splash.  Actually, my picture on a competitor's bottom of the range Micro Four Thirds camera did a pretty good job of catching the splash, too, on a single shot!
