Hanley Castle Church

Gill went to a quilting show at the Three Counties Showground and I went for a make it up as you go along bike ride. Not a long route, but I found several delightful lanes around Welland below the Malverns and then through Upton on Severn.  I stopped off in Hanley Castle on the way back for a look at the church there. The church has been there since the late 1200s but the tower was rebuilt after the civil war and so is one of the first brick built church towers in the country.  As is so often the case, the Victorians did some remodelling in the Gothic style.
