Festive Berries

My big redcurrant bush has been providing these bright red berries for Christmas for more than 40 years. I brought it with me when I moved to the country. It had a bumper crop this year, until two families of four blackbirds found it. They had taken the best before I hung it with old Christmas tree decorations, which are an effective deterrent.

I don't have as many uses for the berries as I did in previous years. Eating them straight from the bush is a great pleasure.

The story of the bush is here.

Thank you to all who sent sympathy and suggestions yesterday. I do appreciate them. Although I slept a little better last night I'm now wretchedly tired after a busy day.

Happy Christmas to all who celebrate it.
