A regal pose

I didn't get my act together this year when it came to booking tickets for Readers and Writers 2019. So I was taxi driver for S (avoids the hassle of parking), and spent some of the time while she was there today down at Western Springs Lake.

This tui broke the pattern. Instead of gaining my attention with strident calls (and then hiding behind the leaves) , this tui flew into a nearby tree and although then moving from tree to tree it stayed in almost full vision. And then stayed still long enough.

Earlier I had got some photos of the Royal Spoonbill colony, which takes my 2019 bird count to over 50. I've added the preening bird as an extra
