Back to what it was like

I left the upstairs office behind and joined the actual clinical work, rather than by remote, and being a consultant. It was very much needed today, as on the two days of the weekend ten patients were admitted, all but two were still in the Intensive Care ward this morning. Not sure that was the clinical need for all of them. But the other two wards were full anyway. So we began the week one over numbers (as the oncall staff had admitted one person into one of the two special isolation rooms in the evnt a Covid positive person needed to be admitted.

Even with that it was good to talk directly with a young man who appears to understand his illness far better than those he has had treatment from in the past. Given information, he was almost suggesting his own treatment, and certainly did not need persuasion to take lithium, remembering the time it helped before.

The busyness of the unit meant I got home as the sun was setting and left for my walk after sunset. This photograph of Ponsonby Road was taken near the southern end and the corner with Great North and Karangahape Roads. I had to remind myself that the last seven or so weeks of being able to cross the road when and where I wanted, has ended. Most of the drivers were keen to get home, so a pedestrian was a nuisance.
