Daintree River Ferry, Queensland

It was 8 o'clock when we woke up this morning and we were in slo-mo and finally set off for Cape Tribulation, further north up the coast.

Today's blip is the vehicle ferry across the Daintree River. The Cook Highway is a fine modern road but once across the Daintree the road narrows, climbs steeply and has steep drops on the seaward side. I wasn't having a good day, we stopped for some refreshment at the Daintree Discovery Centre and decided to have a wander along their aerial walkway, MrD also climbed up the Canopy Tower whilst I explored some of the displays in the interpretive displays. After our amazing day at Mossman Gorge on Saturday, we found this a less inspiring visitor experience.

We retraced our route back towards the ferry, stopping briefly at a viewing point I took some photos but it was very hazy, drizzly, grey and hot! Pics weren't great.

Next stop was Daintree town itself where we shared a lunch of prawns, chips and the most unusual salad which included all sorts of exotic fruit, beautiful to look at and eat - I especially liked the Dragon Fruit! I felt refreshed and got some of my energy back, the heat is muggy at present with the rain showers.

MrD fancied a ride on the Daintree River so we went hunting crocodiles! Only to take photos of! We saw one snoozing near the bank and learnt so many facts about the rainforest, a lovely afternoon.

It was teeming down with rain at 10pm when I started writing this blip. We wandered round town earlier on, had a very tasty Thai meal at Star of Siam, a drink at a bar then the bus back here. Glad we decided to come back when we did otherwise we would have got soaked.

Hope Santa visits you all, Happy Christmas x
