River of Flowers

Great Barrier Reef, Queensland

We woke up at 6 this morning, not because Santa had just arrived but because the air-con unit had packed up during the night and our room felt a little like an oven.

MrD played about with the controls, huge chunks of ice fell out of the unit and streams of water, it worked for a while.

Our day was spent with about 400 other people on a huge catamaran moored next to a pontoon on the outer reef. We were served a buffet lunch, had a tour of the reef in a semi-submerged boat, I took loads of photos but the thick windows acted as a filter which removed all the red colour and made all my pics look greenish.

Lots of people went snorkelling and diving but we found a cool breeze and gazed out on the scene you see in today's blip.

It's now 7.30pm and the temperature is in the low 30s, the air-con is sulking again and we're just going to finish our day off with a cup of tea and a few gluten free mince pies which we bought at the local supermarket.

Happy Christmas to Everyone x
