River of Flowers

Port Douglas, Queensland

I spent the morning doing some laundry to see us in clean clothes until the end of our trip. After a very warm night in our room with no air-con, we were moved to a different room. Apparently the geckos are very fond of the air-con units and often go inside and short-circuit the printed circuit boards.

Late this afternoon we went on the Lady Douglas riverboat around the Dickson inlet and out into the bay in search of crocodiles. We spotted a very small one, which was lurking under the mangrove roots, but it wasn't in any hurry to make any move.

We cooked pasta for dinner and had some very interesting conversations with Janine from Switzerland, Ang who is originally from South Vietnam and a father and son from California, a very chatty lady from Brisbane, and a very reserved Dutch family. The YHA attracts travellers from all over the world!

Hope everyone is enjoying Christmas and Boxing Day x
