Sgwarnog: In the Field

Winners

For the first of three finals this weekend I headed down to Valley Parade which was acting as a neutral, prestige venue for the FA Women’s National League Championship Play Off. Winners of the Northern Division, Blackburn Rovers, were up against Coventry United who had been victorious in the South. I’d seen several games in this, the third tier of the women’s game this season, so it was handy to have the conclusion on my doorstep.

The first half was very even, but Blackburn took the lead just before the break. There was no looking back from there, and Rovers ended up deservedly winning 3-0.

Earlier I had a quick walk down to Spring Wood where it was nice to find my first Wall butterfly of the year. On the dam, the newly hatched cygnets were being paraded (extras).

A long day trip to Wembley for the FA Vase and FA Trophy finals beckons tomorrow.
