The Middleton Pioneer

The third and last orienteering of the weekend was based at the John Charles Centre for Sport at Middleton Park, and the neighbouring Middleton Woods. I was running last leg so had plenty of time wandering around taking photos of the orienteering. The nearby Middleton Railway, the world’s oldest working railway was running steam trains as it was a Bank Holiday Monday and was making regular trips. The first time nobody was running over the bridge, but second time proved luckier. The blip shows one of the elite men running towards the control at the end of the bridge before the final few hundred metres to the stadium.
