Wintry Beach

For a few hours at least the rain cleared up and we saw again the wide open wintry skies of East Lothian, Belhaven Beach bathed itself in sky reflections. If you look very carefully out to Bass Rock in the right-hand top corner you will see (with the help of a microscope ) some brave ( or should I say foolhardy )souls surfing, way out in the cold, cold sea. Elsewhere the turbulent weather of the last few days had created some interesting patterns in the sand.

Twice today I had to experience the joys of Christmas Eve shopping. Once to give my wife moral support in deciding what to cook for our Boxing Day hordes, there's nothing quite like leaving it to the very last minute ! What exhilaration ! And secondly I joined the merry throng queueing at Marks & Sparks at the Fort for their Christmas orders. A recipe for disaster, you might say, but actually it was all quite reasonable with no jockying for position or massive queues. The sales assistant was extremely helpful , somehow wangling me a Xmas shopping discount for which we were hardly eligible. Good will to all men, say I.and a very merry Xmas to all blippers
