Monday in the Lower Gardens

Cleared up paperwork this morning while Mr B was at tennis. Then a stroll into town via Lidl for a couple of things. And up to 60 Million Postcards for an Aspall. I was tempted by their (vegan) Beyond Burger and chips. A gal has to have an occasional calorific treat.

The staff are so much friendlier in haunts here frequented by the younger set. Served by a charming, good looking young chap. I did tell Mr B he needed a black T shirt and tattoes to fit in tho’.

Remembered today’s Nature Challenge (thanks Nickimags888) as we headed home, skirting the Lower Gardens. We have many handsome trees planted in the 19C. And they stood waiting to be chosen for today’s blip.

“The pines of Bournemouth have been perhaps its most distinctive feature since the town's early days. It had the nicknames 'Evergreen Valley' and 'Forest City of our Southern Shore'. The town's heraldic crest has a pine atop it (formally, 'a pine tree proper on a green mount'). This is a memento of the area’s identity as a health spa, when the presence of pine trees was thought to help cure respiratory ailments and be generally invigorating. “

Relax tonight. Corrie and read the papers. Tomorrow more cleaning and food shopping before our friends arrive.
