Getting the sparkle back

Native bluebell

Today I finally learned the difference between the native bluebell (as above) which droops with flowers only one side of the stem and the interloping Spanish bluebell which stands upright and has flowers round the stem (like the bowls of hyacinths you can buy). Needless to say, the native is to be preferred by far - don’t you just love those scrolls on the bells! You can also find hybrids, but I think the one in my blip is pure native.

This was blipped on a walk with J doing the loop of the path from Leaderfoot up the east side of the Leader as far as Cowdenknowes and back along the west side of the river. We didn't see a soul on the walk, just the way I like it.
