Sic transit

The Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland (currently taking place in Edinburgh) is the 10th Duke of Buccleuch.

Passing St Giles Cathedral tonight in the wonderful spring late evening sunshine I couldn’t but admire this great statute of his forbear., the 5th Duke, and its striking setting, even if I couldn’t get a picture without a seagull on its head.
