Bird's Eye

Today's the day …………………….. to look down

This is a view of our house and garden that no-one has seen for almost sixty years.

It's taken from the top of the old railway viaduct that used to carry the line from Kirkcudbright to Castle Douglas, until it was closed by the infamous Dr Beeching.  Will was up there today with an engineer who was checking that it was still structurally sound.  The house has changed a bit from when the bridge was built with various bits added on - but the original cottage is still there.  That's what passengers would have seen from the train just before they went across the bridge over the River Dee.

Thankfully they built things to last in those days - and hopefully this view will be available for plenty more years to come ………………...
