Thomas de la Rue...

That’s his bust on the Thomas de la Rue pub wall not the walk leader, Bob.
I assume you’ve all heard of Guernsey’s famous son, Thomas de la Rue. The company he founded here in Guernsey back in the 18th century recently lost out to a French Company for the printing of Britain's new passports. Ironic that the passports needed because the UK leaves the EU will be printed by a French Company!
Strange little fact about Guernsey... there are no statutes of a Guernsey person in Guernsey. If you’re not Guernsey you might get a statue, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Victor Hugo but Guernsey people only get busts. No idea why. Any suggestions?
