Everyone's A Tourist

The pastel colours of their dresses seemed to fit in with this surprising part of New York.  A big leap forward for us today.  We graduated using the subway 101.  Had to ask two information people and one policeman and were then able to get on the 1 line and take it all the way to the end at South Port where the ferry leaves for Staten Island.  This was so we could look back at the Manhattan Skyline and see the statue.  Leaving the ferry we walked to a restaurant overlooking the harbour and had a leisurely lunch.  There may have been cocktails it was 2. p.m by then.  On the ferry again and another look at the busy harbour.  Getting off we walked to Battery Park which was a delight.  The late spring gardens are lush with beds of Peony and Hosta with leaves at long as my forearm.  Getting the subway back was easy but more and more people kept squeezing on.  We couldn't see the station signs but a family next to us was getting off at Penn Station too so we stood when they did.
A sorting of photos and then a walk out on the streets to track down Pizza.  It was yummy with the topping being fresh ingredients not all mushed together like it is at home.  We peopled watched and bought a hot chocolate at Starbucks to enjoy in our room.  Only 6 k walked today.
