Today we hacked a floor board to find out why it wasn't supported properly. Suffice to say the idiots who we bought the house from hand't fastened it down properly to the sub-floor. So all we had to do was put a range of blocks of the right size in place, then screw the floor back on top and now it doesn't creek, flex or strip the tongue and grove anymore. Basically they had propped one end up on a wooden block that was free to move, so it did, and overtime the T&G on the side was being stripped away...
